Fall is here! There are several great things about fall. The cooler weather, the changing color of the leaves and the beginning of holiday season. One of autumn's most prominent vegetables during this time is the pumpkin. Though it is often used as a display for Halloween, the pumpkin has many health benefits and is very nutritious. Here are some fun facts about this vegetable that most people do not know.
1) Pumpkin is rich in fiber and is great for a healthy heart.
2) Being so rich in fiber helps with weight loss. The fiber slows the digestion making you feel fuller for a longer period of time.
3)Pumpkin has a ton of beta-carotene. Just like carrots, the beta-carotene becomes vitamin A which helps with vision and it also contains antioxidants to help with cataracts.
4)Pumpkin can also help with younger looking skin. The beta-carotene protects the skin from harmful sun rays which can be damaging to skin cells.

Bananas
The bananas you buy in supermarkets are known as the Cavendish variety. For commercialization standards this fruit last for more than 15 days after being picked before it starts to mature. The Cavendish is the only variety of export bananas in the whole world. In the 1800s exporters found one seemingly perfect variety: the Gros Michel. A delicious flavor and long shelf life this banana conquered the globe. But in the 1920s a disease struck the Gros Michel and within a few years, the world's banana crops were gone. So a new variety was developed to replace it: The Cavendish.

Grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables constitute the diet chosen for us by our Creator. These foods prepared in as simple and natural a manner as possible, are the most healthful and nourishing. They impart a strength, a power of endurance, and a vigor of intellect, that are not afforded by a more complex and stimulating diet.
